Anther song, “Tomorrow Never Dies”, written by the movie’s composer David Arnold and performed by k.d. lang, was originally produced as the official theme tune. When Crow’s song became the official theme the k.d. lang song was relegated to the end credits, and renamed “Surrender”. The melody of “Surrender” still remains in Arnold’s score.

In addition to k.d. lang's song, the James Bond producers solicited tracks from others including Pulp, The Cardigans, Saint Etienne, The Fixx, Chris Rea and Swan Lee.

"Last Day on Earth" is a song by English rock band Duran Duran, released in 2001. The song was originally called "Tomorrow Never Dies" and was recorded in 1997 for use as the theme song to the then-upcoming James Bond film of the same name. However the song was rejected. The band subsequently retooled the song into "Last Day on Earth" and released it on their 2001 album Pop Trash. A demo version, with the original lyrics intact, has since surfaced.

Propellerheads collaborated with David Arnold on the track “Backseat Driver” for the soundtrack of the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.
